Mindshare consoles log every call: when it rang, who answered, holds, transfers and how it ended. RockRecorder can read those logs and add the details to each phone recording, and to an MPhone Calls section in Statistics.
Each console sends only the log lines about calls (about 0.5 MB a day) to RockRecorder, using rsyslog, which is already on the console.
Before you start
- Mindshare phone lines are already recorded. See Connecting Mindshare phone lines.
- The phone system is Cisco Unified CM.
- You can sign in to each console over SSH, with
sudo. - The consoles can reach RockRecorder on TCP port 5140 (allow it through any firewall).
1. Turn it on in RockRecorder
- Go to Administration > Recording > Recording Interfaces and open your MPhone interface.
- On the Settings tab, under Phone call details from Mindshare consoles, turn on Collect call details.
- Under Consoles, click Add console for each console and enter a Name (such as Console 1) and its IP address. Only these addresses can send call details.
- Under Phone lines, match each console line to the MPhone channel that records it. Lines appear here after their first call, or click Add phone line and enter the line's name as it is on the console.
- Click Save.
Under Console setup, RockRecorder now shows the file each console needs, with this server's address and port already filled in. Click Copy.
2. Set up each console
On each console, over SSH:
Create the file and paste in what you copied:
sudo nano /etc/rsyslog.d/60-rockrecorder.conf
Check it. It should report no errors:
sudo rsyslogd -N1
Restart rsyslog:
sudo systemctl restart rsyslog
The console needs rsyslog 8 or newer (rsyslogd -v shows the version).
Always copy the file from RockRecorder, not from another console or an old note. It can change when RockRecorder is updated, and the release notes say when to copy it to the consoles again.
3. Check it's working
On the console, this should show a connection to RockRecorder's port 5140:
sudo ss -tn | grep 5140
On the RockRecorder server, the log shows each console connecting:
grep -E "Connected|Refused" /opt/rockrecorder/logs/consoleparser.log | tail
A working console shows as [Console 1] Connected from 10.0.0.21.
Then make a test call. When it ends, its recording on the Recordings page shows a phone icon (incoming, outgoing or picked up). Hover over it to see the details: who called, how long it rang, who answered, and how it ended.
What the file does
- Watches the console's log,
/opt/mindshare/consolesuite/log/consoleexec.log, from the end, so old calls aren't sent. - Sends only the lines about calls, over TCP.
- If RockRecorder can't be reached, keeps up to 50 MB on the console and sends it when the connection is back.
- Keeps these lines out of the console's own system log.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to check |

Refused a connection from … in the log |
The console's address isn't under Consoles (or it connects from a different address). Add it and Save |
No Connected line at all |
The firewall between console and server (TCP 5140), the address and port in the console's file, and that rsyslog restarted without errors |

| Connected, but recordings show no phone icon | The console line isn't matched to the right channel under Phone lines |
